Hit the two rows of 4 boxes in the bottom left of the CarPlay screen on the car and then select the lexus app.
How to easily switch the Carplay display off?
Excuse what are probably easy questions for those familiar with the apps. Our previous cars were Stone Age in comparison, being from the mid-2000s. 
My wife's iPhone is linked with the RX, as she is the primary driver. Dealer cautioned us to wait until we receive the second key-fob before creating an account for me.
The car links fine to her, but immediately displays Carplay on the screen. Trouble is, I'd like to use the car's native apps on the Multimedia display (primarily Sport mode and my own radio/Sirius stations). BUT, I cannot turn her Carplay icons off, from the drivers seat.
We learned how to turn off Carplay on her phone through Googling, but haven't yet found a one or two click method for the DRIVER to do this.

Still practicing...and realizing that even as a passenger, we couldn't change many things while moving, helped a LOT.
Still learning...only put 200 miles on the RX500 since we got it. Managed to change several defaults for vehicle dynamics, for example. (Firmer ride and quicker steering response)
Will post other questions separately, to aid other SEARCHers.
